Tallinn City Property Department announced a tender with negotiations for the construction of a multi-storey garage and open car parking in Mustamae.
"The creation of such garage in densely populated area will help mitigate the problem of cars parking," - says Tallinn vice-mayor Eha Vyrk, - So far, we have contributed to the solution of this problem by granting apartment associations the right of personal use of urban land plots to create parkings. Now, almost seven dozens of apartment associations have benefited from this opportunity, which has given more than 1,700 additional parking places. More than 8 hectares of urban land were allocated for this - the area of ten football stadiums."
Vyrk stressed that a pilot project is being implemented in Mustamae. If it turns out to be successful, multi-storey garages will be built in other residential areas over the city. More than 8.5 thousand square meters were allocated for the first such garage. The paid right of building is established for 50 years. There will be room for almost 400 cars in the garage. Commissioning should be held no later than 31th of March, 2020.
Multi-storey garages are inevitable, because there was practically no free land for apartment associations, and the city also has a exhausted resource. At the same time, it is still necessary to keep the green and recreation areas in the neighbourhoods.
Developer that constructs multi-storey garage gets the right to use up to 40% of the building area for other commercial needs. This measure is designed to reduce the fee for parking the car.
