Tallink's February passenger numbers down 4.9 percent on year

Listed Estonian shipper AS Tallink Grupp carried 622,283 passengers in February, 4.9 percent fewer than during the same month last year.

The number of cargo units carried increased seven percent to 28,793 units, but the number of passenger cars declined 2.8 percent to 67,677, the company told the stock exchange - writes err.ee

The number of passengers was broadly unchanged at 334,200 passengers on the Estonia-Finland route. Cargo carriage on that route rose 14.5 percent to 19,000 units and the number of passenger vehicles carried declined 1.1 percent to 54,700 units.

On the Estonia-Sweden route, the number of passengers increased 1.9 percent to 74,000. Cargo carriage on the same route grew 14 percent to 3,921 units and the number of passenger vehicles carried moved up 1.3 percent to 4,178 units.

The number of passengers on the Finland-Sweden route fell 19.1 percent on year to 163,600 in February. Cargo carriage decreased 25.1 percent to 4,625 units and the number of cars carried on the route dropped 33.4 percent to 4,594. The vessel Baltic Princess did not operate on the Turku-Stockholm route due to scheduled maintenance.

The number of passengers on the shipper's Latvia-Sweden route grew 12.1 percent to 50,600. Cargo carriage on the route shot up 72.5 percent to 1,282 units and the number of passenger vehicles grew 28.8 percent to 4,211 vehicles.
