300 tons of new sand will be brought to Kakumäe beach

Yesterday, several tons of new sand were brought to Kakumäe beach. In total, 300 tons of sand were ordered. The first portions of sand have already been delivered and distributed, the Haabersti administration reported.

According to Elder of Haabersti Marek Jurgenson, Haabersti's government this year pays special attention to the improvement of the beaches of Harku and Kakumäe. "On Kakumäe beach, the Kakumäe surf schools moved containers closer to the Tiskre settlement and expanded the beach area. Also cleaned the coastal zone from reeds, which made the beach wider," - said Jurgenson.

"In the near future, we will bring 200 tons of new sand to the beach of Lake Harku. On both beaches, the installation of various attractions for children and adults is planned. The beach of Lake Harku will receive a new playground. On Kakumäe beach, we will install a new net for beach volleyball, fitness equipment and bungee for children. On Kakumäe beach, we will eradicate an empty temporary structure and cleanse the part of the beach overgrown with reed, in order to create picnic sites there in the future. By the beach season, both beaches will get a new look," - the elder added.
