Yesterday at 8 p.m. on the celebration of the 674th anniversary of the Rise of St. George's Night, horse riders brought the fire of victory. Under the ceremonial volleys a bonfire was lit and welcoming fireworks were launched.
The Rise of the St. George's Night began on April 23, year 1343, with the arson of a house located on one of the hills of Harjumaa, which gave a sign of the beginning of a concerted rioters' speech. It passed 674 years from the day of this date.
According to Elder Lasnamäe Maria Ufereva, the celebration of the anniversary of the Rise of the St. George's Night has become a good tradition in the district: "Each such event unites people and helps not to forget history."
