New square and promenade to Noblessner Harbor!

The historical corps of the shipbuilding plant of the tsar's time will be put in order, new pedestrian and vehicular roads will appear, the yacht harbor will be expanded and new breakwater will be built.

The owners of Noblessner Harbor promulgated the development program of this territory. According to the director of real estate development BRLT grupp Ivar Piirsalu, the total area of 15 hectares will be significantly changed.

In the coming years, three historical production corps will be put in order, there will be a new square and promenade. In 2018 the international center of arts will be opened. In early 2019 a virtual reality center for the whole family will start working in the former foundry.

The first stage of housing construction will be building of four apartment buildings, overlooking the sea. In total, they will have 200 apartments and 3,700 sq.m of area for offices, as well as for restaurants and cafes. The first house will come into operation at the end of this year.

Member of the working group of Noblessner Harbor architects Indrek Allmann, from the architectural bureau "Plus", says that there will be a typical city block as a result, in which action will be 24 hours a day and seven days a week. Harbor Noblessner can not be turned into a dormitory suburb, where people come only in the evening. But it is also impossible to turn it into a mono-functional business center, in which all lights are off at five p.m. and all action stops.

Particular attention is expected to be given to the design of the space between the houses. All the streets between the houses are meant exclusively for pedestrians. Automobile traffic at the entrance to the territory will be immediately sent to underground, so that the ground part belongs totally to pedestrians, explains the architect. There will be landscaping in the streets, benches and fountains. Privacy for residents will be provided with yards between buildings, hidden from stranger eyes and from the wind.

According to Raymond Kaliulaid, the elder of Põhja-Tallinn, the rebirth of closed for many years harbor will give much to the city and bring the sea closer to people. There will be a path of health at the Noblessner Harbor, in a year there will be new square, terrace overlooking the sea and the western part of promenade. They will unite this territory with the rest of the city. The entire coast from Noblessner Harbor to the City Hall will be refurbished and will become a well-maintained part of promenade.

This year the shipyard, operating in the Noblessner Harbor, will be closed, and its workshops will move to the Kopli Peninsula. The large hangar will be dismantled in the first half of 2018.
