Estonian jewellery to be exhibited in Paris

An exhibition dedicated to Estonian jewellery design will be taking place from 8-16 September at the Paris Design Week 2017.

The exhibition, called “Offset”, introduces six artists who use new and unexpected materials in their work, the organisers said in a statement.

“Some of the examples include: dry mushrooms and their mystical texture, titanium’s vivid surface, the brilliant shapes of crystal vases and the rough surface of squashed wiresponges,” the statement added- writes

The exhibition, taking place at the Galerie Résidences , presents a fragment of contemporary Estonian jewellery design, marking a shift in the use of traditional materials.

According to Darja Popolitova, the co-curator of the exhibition, “Offset’ captures the essence of upcycling – the pleasure of breaking and recreating.” “It’s a fresh look at everyday objects, bringing out their hidden meanings,” the organisers said.

The designers participating in the exhibition are Sille Luiga, Merlin Meremaa, Maarja Niinemägi, Darja Popolitova, Kairi Sirendi and Tanel Veenre.
